Children’s Health and Health Eating

You might be taking things a bit too casually as far as the health of your child is concerned, but sooner or later you may regret it. It is a fact that more and more kids are getting addicted to junk food. They hate home made food and are more at ease with hot dogs and other junk foods. As a responsible parent, it is time that you realized that these junk foods are slowly taking their toll on your child and that sooner or later they will end up being obese. When did you last take the weight of your child?

Have you ever observed that they hardly exercise and are slowly becoming couch potatoes? It is high time that you took some steps to identify the harmful effects of obesity in your kids since the same leads to a number of health problems like: Asthma, high blood pressure, sleep apnea, and high cholesterol levels. A part of the blame lies in the current generation models too. Our kids identify themselves with these models that they watch on the TV and try to ape them.

If the model proclaims that he or she is eating a particular brand of food and that that particular brand of food is healthy, the kids will immediately start taking that food without bothering to study if those foods are suitable for their health or not. Do not blame the kids for they are too young to identify between what is good and bad. If they had that level of maturity, they would have never consumed the latest brand of fast food. It is your duty as caring parents to see what your kids consume and try to feed them foods that are healthy for them.

Apart from health issues, there are some psychological factors that are associated with obesity. You kid will suffer from psychological effects when he or she is bullied at school and being called names because of their obesity. They will form the fear of being disliked and eventually will avoid attending school. There is one more thing that you should not forget. Just providing your kids with healthy food is not sufficient. You need to ensure that they follow this up with regular exercise. These exercises can be in the form of physical activities like swimming, jumping, running, climbing up trees etc.

Also, these physical activities will help burn up the extra calories present in your kid thereby not permitting it to turn over into fat. You need to keep an especially when your kids are 3-4 years old. It is during this age that they form good or bad habits. If you imbibe the habits of eating good food and doing exercise during this period, then they shall get habituated to the same and retain it for the rest of their lives. Whatever else you do, never force a child to eat something that he or she dislikes initially. Give them sufficient time to get accustomed to the taste of the new food.

The Truth About Childhood Obesity

Childhood Obesity

The bitter truth is that nearly 70% of American youth are obese. They lead a casual lifestyle and do not bother about the basics… the end result being that they turn fat. Till a few decades back, the teenagers used to eat at least 2 square meals at home… all this has changed now. People just do not have the time, and, even if they do have the time, they do not have the inclination to eat at home. The wholesome and nutritious food that one eats at home can never be had from the market.

The junk food… sometimes also called as fast food… is prepared using saturated fatty acids which cannot be properly digested by the human digestive system. The end result is that the food remains back in the body. Instead of burning up and providing calories, it turns into fat. A measuring system known as BMI (body mass index) is used by pediatricians to evaluate obesity in children. Have we… the parents… ever thought how are we contributing to this mess? We worry too much about our kids and never bother to think twice before giving them a healthy amount of cash as pocket expenses.

We don't seem to bother to see if our kids are getting sufficient exercise or not. If the kid across the street is eating a certain food, we ensure that our kid also has access to that food… despite the fact that his or her body might not require that extra amount of nourishment. Unless we, the parents start taking control of the eating habits of our children, we shall be putting their future health at risk from obesity. We should ensure that our kids do sufficient exercise so that the food they eat gets burnt up properly.

We should also ensure that our kids do not eat unhealthy food. If required consult a pediatrician and seek their advise. Basically, we should be able to identify why our kids are getting fat and then try and resolve those issues. Do not rush things if you are not successful in your first attempt. Childhood obesity is a thing that needs patience to tackle. If necessary, meet the pediatrician a couple of times and seek his or help to assess what the problems are and whether the approach you are taking to resolve them is proper or not.

The worst thing that a parent can do is opting in for the so called herbal medications that promise to cure obesity in a matter of a few weeks. These medications have not yet proved their worth and are also not meant for kids and teenagers. Sit down with your kids and discuss the problem with them. Approach them as friends and not as parents. They will appreciate this approach and will be ready to listen to your solutions and accept them if addressed properly. The best thing that parents can do is setting an example. The good news is that kids are naturally active and with a bit of proper guidance will burn lots of calories, and shed their obesity.

You can help by providing healthy snacks for your children - foods that they love, that are satisfying, but contain good nutrition. Snacks should have protein and healthy nutrients.

Maintaining a Positive Attitude

http://www.FreeDigitalPhotos.net

Successful people are identifiable by their consistent positive attitude. They feel as if there’s nothing that they couldn't achieve if they wanted and nothing they couldn't possess! It is a positive attitude which separates the successful from the unsuccessful: a self realized energy that propels towards success as opposed to a self defeating one that creates problems and provokes suffering in life.

Positive attitude is a state and condition of your mindset that allows you to handle stress with optimism, promoting hope and minimizing despair. It is what empowers you to be undeterred by problems, maintain your focus and continue to persevere without frustration, and thus eventually overcome all problems.

If you have been a pessimist and have been filled with negative thoughts, here’s how to get rid of that problem, embrace your dreams and goals - and develop a positive attitude.

1. When you sense any signs of negativity or pessimism creeping into your mind, immediately check your thoughts and stop: Instead try to imagine and visualize your favorite memories, expectations or ideals.

2. Experts recommend another way to banish negative thoughts from your mind, a mechanism which involves two basic stages: The first which drives away negative thoughts and emotions, and the second which allows negativity to be infiltrated and overcome with positive thoughts and feelings.

3. Talking to yourself and repeating positive affirmations are proven techniques to develop a positive mindset. So devise your personal prep talk and motivation statement and make it a point to talk to yourself regularly.

4. Another helpful way is to make posters or sticky notes carrying positive and affirmative statements such as: I can do it, Success is mine, My goal is within reach, etc, and to put them up around your home or workplace where you are apt see the message regularly, day and night.

This is a start. You need to keep it up on a regular basis. Your positive thoughts will then become good habits, which will lead to a changed life!

Objections are Good..by Guest Writer Kurt W. Mortensen

"Objections are good" - By Guest Writer Kurt W. Mortensen

There is a big difference between a genuine question of concern and an "I'm done with you" objection.

Is it a sign of interest or resistance? That is the key question. When they present every objection in the book, this should be a red flag to you. You are probably going down the wrong road, not reading the person. What they are really saying is, "Go away. I have heard enough. I don't see where or how this can help me." Did you really uncover their wants and needs, or are you vomiting a list of features and benefits? Many persuaders vomit information.

Here is the issue: your prospect will buy for their reasons and for only their reasons, they don't care about why you like the product or how much you know about the product. You need to find out the one or two reasons they want to buy and tell them how your product or service will benefit them.

When you list features and benefits, two things happen. It can suck the energy out of the persuasion process and it can actually give them reasons not to buy that they wouldn't have even imagined. Find the one or two they are really going to care about and get them to purchase - then you can fill in the blanks with the other features and benefits. Here is the key: before they buy or have made the decision to purchase, they are looking for reasons not to buy. After the decision to buy, they are then looking for reasons why they made a good purchase.

Great persuaders will always have fewer objections to handle than old style persuaders. If you really understand your prospect, you "pre-solve" before the objection has even occurred. "Pre-solving" objections can be effectively accomplished by using a tactic titled inoculation. Do you inoculate your prospects?

The term "inoculation" comes from the medical field: injecting a weak dose of a virus into a patient inoculates or prevents the patient from actually getting the disease. The body's immune system fights off this weak form of the disease and then is prepared when the full disease attacks. Likewise, when you are presenting to an audience who has an opposing viewpoint standing in the wing, you have to "inoculate" them with a weakened form of the other side's argument. If you know someone is going to attack your viewpoint, you prepare your audience in advance for the attack.

The idea is to address the issues that your opponent will bring up and then directly refute them. The point to understand is that the inoculation must be a weak form of the "virus." If you inoculated a human body with the strong strain of a disease, they could become sick or even die. The dose must be weak enough to prepare the body for the stronger virus but not so strong that it overpowers the body.

In persuasion, you don't want to give strong doses. You don't want to give your prospects all the ammunition from the other side of the persuasive message. On the other hand, if you don't prepare your audience for what they are about to hear, the sting of your opponent's words, logic, or testimony might be too much for them to handle and they could switch sides.

We are surrounded by countless examples of inoculation, many of which are used in the courtroom. The attorney stands up and says, "The prosecution will call my client mean, evil, a terrible husband, and a poor member of society, but this is not true, as I will show you over the next couple of weeks...." So, when the prosecution stands up and states anything close to what the defense attorney has claimed they will, the jury is prepared, thinking he or she is acting exactly the way the defense said they would. This gives the jurors a way to ignore or even discount the prosecutor's arguments.

Society needs to understand the importance of inoculation in regards to smoking, drugs, teenage pregnancy, and others issues. Street gangs also use this inoculation tool. When they are trying to recruit members to join their gang, they inoculate future gang members by telling them their parents, teachers, and cops will encourage them not to join. They will tell them all the reasons their opponents will give, fueling them with ammunition for the impending attack.

This preparation enables him or her to handle the oncoming assault from parents, teachers, and others. We know our children will come in contact with forces that do not advocate the views and beliefs we would wish to instill in our kids. Who should be the first contact with your children - you, or the drug dealer? When you inoculate people, they can mentally prepare arguments supporting their stance. This reinforcement prevents them from switching teams. The more prepared they are, the more they'll hold fast to their attitudes and beliefs. The more deeply this reinforcement is ingrained, the more difficult it will become for them to be swayed.

WebSite Traffic For A Home Business
Having more website traffic is something that all business owners want and strive for. The main advantage for a home business owner to have more website traffic is sales. The more visitors you have, of course the more you have the opportunity to See… You also increase the amount of leads that you get. Most home businesses work off leads for more of sales. Here you will find 3 of the best ways that you can get more website traffic, and keep those sales and leads coming in.

1. Trade Links
Trading links with other websites that are relevant to yours will definitely help increase your website traffic. Try not to ask for link trades from those that are in direct competition, because often you will find that your competition will more than likely not be willing to trade links with you. For example, if your home business is a travel business, you could find a website that sells vacation style clothing or swimsuits. Use your imagination to come up with things that are relevant to your home business but not in direct competition with it for link exchanges.

2. Start a Blog
Having a blog about your home business website is a really great way to get more website traffic. The way blogs have become so popular on the Internet; you will find that many people will search only for blogs when they are looking for an opinion on something.
Promoting your home business website on your blog, will send more visitors to your website, which can result in more leads as well as sales. You can also advise your blog readers on how to get more information from you about your home business on your blog. Perhaps have them leave a comment, or offer them a newsletter for more info.

3. Post In Forums
Locating a forum that is relevant to your home business is an excellent way to get more website traffic. The key to this is to have your website link in your signature, and answer posts with confidence in knowing your products.
Using a travel related home business as an example again. You would find a forum that is relevant to vacationing. Register there to become a member (most of the time this is free). Place your website URL in your signature that the forum allows you to have. Then just start replying to posts about vacations. Most forums do not allow ads or self-promotion. However, people are curious by nature, and will click on your website link to get more information. This really works.

Website traffic is not something that just comes to you when you have a website. The old saying “Build it and they will come” does not apply. You have to promote your home business to get more website traffic. Using the techniques above will get you results that you can see and use. They are not all that time consuming, you just have to be consistent with them and you will see that they will pay off.

Equipped for the Workplace by Guest Writer: Ps Hillman

Equipped for the Workplace TGIF Today God Is First by Os Hillman12-07-2009

May the God of peace, who through the blood of the eternal covenant brought back from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great Shepherd of the sheep, equip you with everything good for doing His will, and may He work in us what is pleasing to Him, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen. Hebrews 13:20 - Proverbs 13:12

Over 70 percent of our time is spent in a working environment, yet our training and teaching focuses on areas where we spend much less time. The workplace is the greatest mission field of our day, yet we do not train workplace believers how to effectively integrate their faith into their jobs. The wall between Sunday and Monday still exists. Most believers do not understand that all of life is spiritual, not just life on Sunday.

A recent study found that 50 percent of Christians have never heard a sermon on work; 70 percent have never been taught a theology of work; and 70 percent have never heard a sermon on vocation. Why do we focus on the fringes rather than the center where most people spend most of their time - the workplace?God is removing the wall of separation by speaking to pastors and workplace believers all over the world.

A pastor recently shared how his church ordains their workplace believers for their calling to the workplace. Another pastor described their church's commitment to integrating training for their workplace believers on the theology of work. Another told how they began a workplace ministry within their church for their workplace believers, and even integrated Sunday school programs specifically geared to help workplace believers understand their calling in the workplace. We are entering a new era in the Church when workplace believers are seen as a remnant of the Body of Christ who need to be mobilized and trained for the work of the ministry to their own mission field-the workplace.

Are you one of the men and women God is raising up for this task? Pray that God will help pastors understand and affirm this calling, and that they will respond by training the people of their churches for their own ministry to the workplace. When we reclaim the 70 percent, the remainder will be reclaimed automatically.

What You Should Know About Weight Loss Surgery

What You Should Know About Weight Loss Surgery
http://www.freedigitalphotos.net/

Weight loss surgery is something that everyone extremely obese thinks about at one time or another. While some may look at having surgery to lose weight as a fast and easy way out of their overweight situation, they may want to take another look. The statistics for having surgery to lose weight are not good. It is dangerous and very expensive. Many times insurance will not even cover part of the cost to have surgery for this matter as well. There are so many risks that are involved with having surgery to lose weight you would not believe. Keep reading for more beneficial information on losing weight by having surgery.
Nutrition

Look at what kind of nutrition you are getting in your diet right now. Are you eating enough whole grains and fresh fruit and veggies? Chances are that you are not. Because if you were, you would not be researching weight loss surgery. So, think about this, after you had surgery to lose weight, you would need to include the necessary nutrients in your diet to keep the weight off. Why not go ahead and get these nutrients now without surgery?
After Weight Loss Surgery

Even after weight loss surgery, you have to make changes to your eating habits and change your lifestyle. So, why not go ahead and start this, rather than have surgery and then make the changes. If you are so motivated to do it afterwards, you should be just as motivated to go ahead and make these changes to get the weight off. If you go through with having surgery to lose weight, and continue to eat unhealthy then you will put the weight right back on. You have to change your eating habits. So go ahead, change those now, and forget about surgery.
Last Resort

Only consider weight loss surgery as a last resort. Having surgery to lose weight can do major damage to your body that cannot be repaired. Try the tips above that you will have to do anyway if you go through surgery to lose weight and keep it off. If you are successful without the surgery, you will find that it will not be needed. You only have one body so you should treat it with respect and take the best care of it that you can.
